No fewer than 2000 residents comprising the elderly, People Living with Disabilities, indigent, and the vulnerable benefited from the N40m Christmas support of the Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon (Dr) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira for residents in the district.
Speaking at the disbursement ceremony, Apatira stated that the gift of N20,000 to each beneficiary is aimed at supporting the less privileged during the festive season.
He added that it is also aimed at cushioning the effects of the current economic situation during the Yuletide season.
He said, “This gesture is part of our administration’s welfare package to ensure that residents have a bountiful festive season.
It is our little way of supporting a broad range of community members, including artisans, People Living with Disabilities, Community leaders, youth groups and ethnic and religious groups, students, and the aged.
This is a season of love and to share His grace and love with humanity, particularly to the vulnerable to enable them to celebrate the season with their loved ones.”
The council boss called for prayers for the nation, President Bola Tinubu, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu while also advising beneficiaries to avoid actions that could cause pain to others during the festive season.
Similarly, Hon. Apatira hosted staff, retirees, and other stakeholders at the annual end-of-the-year get-together.
He said the gathering was not just a celebration but a reflection of the council’s unwavering commitment to staff welfare and recognition of hard work.
