The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr.) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, has urged Christians nationwide to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ as they mark His birth.
The monarch was quoted in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Olugbemga Ayoade, as listing the virtues of Jesus Christ to include love, forgiveness, provision for the needy, religious tolerance, and peaceful co-existence, among others.
He stressed the need to love one another, stating that the lack of genuine love has brought us to where we are today, suffering in the midst of plenty. In his words, “The rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer. This is contrary to the reason for the birth of Jesus Christ,” he lamented.

Oba Owolabi Olakulehin used the occasion to urge the well-to-do in society to remember the poor and meet their needs in the spirit of the Christmas season, helping them to feel a sense of belonging.
“I call on travelers during this period to avoid night journeys, drivers not to overspeed, and for all to obey traffic rules and regulations. I also urge law enforcement agents to remain vigilant in securing the lives and property of Nigerian people.”
Kabiyesi appreciates the support of the Olubadan Advisory Council, the executive members of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), traditional titleholders, mogajis, baales, the palace staff, and all indigenes and residents of Ibadanland. He wishes them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.
