Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed his commendation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s relentless efforts that have led to the reopening of the Warri refinery.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Umaru Bago described this development as unprecedented and a monumental step towards restoring hope for Nigerians through local production and refining of crude oil.

Governor Umaru Bago emphasised that the President’s achievement in reviving the Warri refinery, after several years of inactivity, demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment to transforming the petroleum downstream sector and restoring Nigeria to its former glory, thereby reinstating the nation’s pride.

He noted that the Warri Refinery is currently operating at 60% capacity, producing 125,000 barrels per day, highlighting that this production will further complement the Port Harcourt refinery, which was revived in November and is now fully operational.

This progress, according to the Governor, stands as a testament to President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians as a major oil-producing nation.

The Governor also acknowledged the efforts of the management of NNPC Ltd, led by Mele Kyari, for their hard work in ensuring the realisation of the President’s mandate.

He expressed hope that the Kaduna Refinery and the 150,000 bpd capacity refinery in Port Harcourt will soon be fully operational as well.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago stated that the successful reopening of these refineries is making a significant positive impact and inspiring confidence among the citizens.

It is noteworthy that the Warri refinery resumed operations under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, who also played a key role in reviving the Port Harcourt refinery, which has a production capacity of 60,000 barrels per day.
