The North West University (NWU), Kano, has expelled 41 students, while 18 others were rusticated for involvement in examination malpractices during the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic year.

The announcement was made public through a circular dated January 3, 2025, signed by Jafaru Sule Muhammad, Head of the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions, and Records, on behalf of the Registrar. A copy of the circular was made available to the press in Kano.

The decision was finalized by the university’s Senate during its 56th regular meeting, held on December 30, 2024.

The circular also confirmed that the expelled and rusticated students were found guilty of violating the institution’s examination policies. In addition to the expulsions and rustications, the Senate issued written warnings to 42 students for their involvement in examination misconduct, while two students were completely exonerated after thorough investigations.
