A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and governorship aspirant, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, has stated that he is determined to win the party ticket and, ultimately, win next year’s election in the southwestern state.

In a statement made available to newsmen by his media office, Otunba Fayose said his “resolve to contest is driven by his desire to steer Ekiti State back on the path of growth and development.”

“I am in the race to dislodge the Oyebanji-led government, and if I win, I will run an inclusive government that will steer Ekiti in the right direction.”

The PDP governorship aspirant explained that he felt the need to reaffirm his interest in the race to dispel any doubts about his ambition, following a recent meeting between a former governor of the state, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos.

At the highly publicized meeting, the former governor, who is incidentally Otunba Fayose’s elder brother, informed President Tinubu that he would be supporting the incumbent governor, who is on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to secure a fresh mandate.

Reacting to the development, the aspirant declared that the Lagos meeting would not, in any way, affect his aspiration.

He said, “I read about the meeting in the newspapers like any other person, and I wish to state that the meeting has nothing to do with my aspiration.”

“The meeting will not impact my ambition because the former governor, being my elder brother, is simply exercising his democratic right of freedom of choice.”

“His choice and preferences will not, and cannot, in any way, negatively affect my bid, as we are separate entities pursuing different goals.”

Otunba Fayose urged his supporters in the state to remain steadfast and resolute in their quest for positive change in Ekiti.

Describing Governor Oyebanji’s administration as a total disaster, Fayose expressed confidence that the PDP would return to power and begin the process of rebuilding the state.

“So, my brother is on his own, and it’s up to the leadership of our great party to determine his political allegiance, whether to our PDP or to the APC.”

“I am, however, using this opportunity to urge our teeming supporters to remain firm and resolute and not to be distracted in any way from causing the needed change in our state.”
