Two factory workers were rescued on Saturday morning in the Ikosi area of Lagos after becoming trapped in a diesel reservoir.
The incident, which occurred around 10 a.m., was confirmed in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu.
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that one of the workers accidentally fell into the reservoir while conducting repair work, and the second worker became trapped while attempting a rescue.
LASEMA and the state fire service worked together to pull the victims to safety.
“Both victims sustained severe conditions and were promptly transported to the hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) after receiving first aid, including CPR,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated.
He further noted that emergency responders had secured the scene and were assessing it to determine any further necessary actions.
“The scene is being assessed by emergency responders to determine further necessary action in order to prevent similar occurrences,” he added.
The two victims, identified as adult males, remain under medical care following their ordeal.
