Ogun State Government, on Tuesday, disclosed that it has commenced refund payment to 33 unsuccessful subscribers who indicated interest in its housing units across the State.

The State Commissioner for Housing, Jamiu Omoniyi, stated this at the 2025 approved budget highlights and breakdown media briefing organised by the Ministries of Budget and Planning and Information and Strategy, held at the Olusegun Osoba Press Centre, Governor’s Office, Abeokuta.

Omoniyi stated that the State Government under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun, would continue to be responsible, responsive, and accountable for its actions.

He explained that names of the unsuccessful subscribers had been collated for refund amounting to N92.6m.

He said, “This government is responsible, responsive, and accountable for our actions. I can boldly say that for all the 33 unsuccessful subscribers to all our Schemes, we have collated their refund amounting to N92.6m.

“It has been approved and Bank cheques are ready for collection from the Ministry of Housing.”

The Commissioner briefed the media that his ministry’s target is to deliver 5000 housing units and embark on legacy projects.

While giving the budget breakdown, Omoniyi, said a total of N17bn would be expended on provision of housing units by his ministry.

He explained that a sum of N7.5bn will be spent on housing projects, while N4.5bn and N4.9bn have been earmarked for other projects by the Ministry of Housing and Housing Corporation, respectively.

The Commissioner further disclosed that his Ministry would carry out the construction of Judges Quarters to provide accommodation for judges in the State.

The Economic Adviser and Commissioner for Finance, Mr Dapo Okubadejo, who chaired the briefing, said Ogun is ready to take full advantage of expansion in Lagos to grow its economy.

He said the budget of the State grew from N330bn in 2020 to N1.045trn in 2025, noting the astronomical growth in five years indicated the state has become one the best in the ease of doing business as well as facilitation of direct foreign investment.

The Finance Commissioner said Ogun has developed a robust economic ambition with a main goal to create jobs, provide food, and reduce insecurity.

He submitted that the state has created industrial clusters in strategic locations and provided infrastructure such as power, water, and others, to attract investors and make Ogun a cost-effective destination to do business.
