More than 12 lives were reportedly lost in a multiple vehicle accident involving a trailer and another car along the notorious Oko Olowo section of the Ilorin-Jebba Expressway in Kwara State. Several other individuals sustained varying degrees of injury in the crash.
According to eyewitness accounts, the accident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 5:35 PM when a trailer with registration number AYE 218 XC collided head-on with a motor vehicle bearing registration number TTN 556 XA.
The state command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) had not issued an official statement regarding the accident. However, a top official from the corps confirmed details during a telephone interview.
Reports indicate that one of the vehicles involved was transporting cows and human passengers from Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, to Ogbomoso in Oyo State, while the trailer was traveling from Lagos to Kano.
Emergency responders and police officers arrived at the scene promptly to manage the situation, and injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The bodies of the deceased victims were reportedly evacuated by their families.

A video recorded by one of the rescuers, which was which was sighted by Nigerian Tribune, showed the truck overturned with over 10 corpses scattered on the road.
A senior officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara command, who preferred not to be quoted said that 15 people died in the multiple crash while three were injured.
Speaking in a telephone chat, the FRSC sector commander, Muftau Irekeola, confirmed the incident, saying that, “but I am still waiting for the details from my boys in Olooru unit”.
“That we have 15 casualties may not be far from the truth but I am still waiting for details.
“I am waiting for the details from my boys. It was a multiple accident involving a trailer and one Canter truck”, he said.
