The Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has joined other prominent figures in mourning the passing of Lt. General Jeremiah Useni, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a statement, the minister condoled with the friends, families, and associates of the late general, as well as the Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang. She regretted that Nigerians would miss the wisdom and guidance of the elder statesman.
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), also paid tribute to General Useni, describing his death as the “fall of one of the biggest trees in the forest of Nigeria”.
Wike acknowledged the significant role General Useni played in developing the FCT during his tenure as Minister between 1993 and 1998.
Orji Uzor Kalu, a former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, also mourned the late general, describing him as a patriotic leader who dedicated his life to the service of Nigeria.
Kalu noted that General Useni’s passing is a monumental loss to his family, the Nigerian Armed Forces, Plateau, and the nation at large.
