The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has restated its commitment to promoting youth empowerment for the economic transformation of the nation.

The apex bank also pledged to advance sustainable development through financial inclusion, stressing that it remains a central area of its mission.

This was disclosed on Friday by Muhammad Sani Abdullahi, Deputy Governor, Economic Policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria during a high-level debriefing on the ‘summit of the future’ for youths in Abuja.

He said, “At the Central Bank of Nigeria, we are committed to the following priorities: Promoting Youth Empowerment for Economic Transformation. We will harness our economic policies to create opportunities for youth to thrive as entrepreneurs, innovators, and key drivers of economic development. Initiatives such as youth-friendly credit policies and capacity-building programs will be enhanced to equip young Nigerians with the tools they need to succeed, especially in emerging sectors like the green economy and digital transformation”.

Abdullahi said the CBN will continue to design and implement policies that bridge financial access gaps for young people, and underserved communities, empowering them to actively contribute to building a sustainable future.

In line with the Pact of the Future’s call for collaborative action, he highlighted that the CBN is committed to forging strategic partnerships with civil society, international organizations, and the private sector, adding that these partnerships would amplify the impact of youth-led solutions, foster job creation, and drive innovation for national and global progress.

Abdullahi stated, “We are dedicated to establishing platforms for meaningful youth engagement in economic policy formulation. By ensuring that the voices of young Nigerians are heard, we aim to co-create policies that are responsive to their aspirations and the realities of their lives.”

He reiterated that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) firmly believes that the youths are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but also key stakeholders in shaping the policies, innovations, and economic transformations of today.

According to him, this belief fuels the CBN’s commitment to fostering a dynamic youth-driven economy capable of tackling the challenges and seizing the opportunities of a rapidly evolving world.
