The seventh season of Big Brother Naija will kick off today, Saturday, July 23 amidst pomp and glee.
As always, the seventh edition of the show will kick off different rounds of controversies, discourse, and journey to fame for lucky housemates.
Here are seven things to expect as the new season begins tonight.
- It’s a double launch again
As viewers saw at the opening of season six, season seven will have a double launch show. The first opening show will hold on Saturday, July 23 with Ebuka Obi Uchendu making his way back as the host. On Sunday, July 24, the second opening show will take place. Both opening shows will witness the ushering of 10 housemates each into the BBNaija house.
- Return of Ninjas
For the seventh season, the seventh edition of the BBNaija show will witness a return of a few pre-COVID 19 elements including the fan-favourite ‘Ninjas,’ and a live studio audience. Viewers, according to the organisers, should expect a line-up of more engaging tasks, unpredictable twists, and Big Brother’s wit.
- Voting pattern
BBNaija 7 will retain the voting style from season six. According to the organisers, voting will only be on the Big Brother Naija website, mobile site, and the MyDStv and MyGOtv apps for active customers. The number of votes each subscriber will have will be determined by their subscription packages, with DStv Premium and GOtv SUPA subscribers receiving the most votes.
- BBNaija 7 will hold for 72 days
20 housemates of the BBNaija 7 will plunge into 72 days of what promises to be dramatic, insightful, and downright entertaining content from Monday, July 25. Viewers should expect to experience talented youngsters, bellyaching laughs, and emotional moments.
- Prize money is N100m
The prize money for season seven of BBNaija has been upped by the organisers from N90m to N100m. This season’s winner will take home a grand prize worth 100 million Naira that includes 50 million Naira cash and other exciting prizes. These are made possible by headline sponsor Pocket by Piggyvest and the associate sponsor, Flutterwave.
- BBNaija fans in Europe will watch season 7
For fans of BBNaija outside the shores of Nigeria, season seven will be available on the streaming platform, Showmax across Sub-Saharan Africa, the United Kingdom, and the Republic of Ireland.
- Toke Makinwa, Ebuka return for this season
For this season, Ebuka Obi Uchendu returns as the host of the show while Toke Makinwa returns as the host of BBNaija: The Buzz. Ebuka will usher in, and have discussions with the housemates and evicted housemates, while Toke will feature well-known personalities, special guests, and BBNaija enthusiasts sharing their thoughts on the juiciest moments in the Big Brother house.
