Nationnewslead reports that A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Otunba Jumoke Ogunkeyede has said the ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise will afford the party the opportunity to further deliver dividends of democracy to the people and expand its membership base.
Speaking shortly after revalidating his membership of the party in Ilase-Ijesa, Otunba Ogunkeyede said though, there have been genuine criticisms from respected individuals over the necessity of the exercise, the unity of the party still remain sacrosanct.
The APC chieftain after validating his membership of the APC also toured the 10 wards in the Local Government Area.
Flanked by party stalwarts and supporters in the Local Government Area, including the chairman, Obokun Local Government Education Authority Board, Chief Biodun Owoeye, all the ten ward chairmen in Obokun Local Government Area, as well as former Chairman, Obokun Local Government, Prince Ademola Adeyeye, Otunba Ogunkeyede toured the ten wards in the Local Government to assess the conduct of the registration and revalidation exercise so far.
Parts of the places visited include, Ikinyinwa, Ibokun, Otan-Ile, Imesi-Ile, Esa-Odo, Esa-Oke, where the APC chieftain paid a courtesy call on the Owa-Miran of Esa-Oke and also Ilare-Ijesa where he also visited a party bigwig and chairman of the APC in the area, Samuel Ogunbiyi.
Earlier, speaking in Ilase-Ijesa shortly after he revalidated his membership of the party, Otunba Ogunkeyede said though the registration and revalidation exercise is not necessary as being opined in some quarters, it is however, important for every member and those willing to join to participate in order to have a sense of belonging.
The party chieftain who strongly maintained that the APC remains the party to beat, stressed that every necessary apparatus will be set in motion to ensure the party remained a formidable force in the state and the country in general and better repositioned to win future elections.
Otunba Ogunkeyede commended the state governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola for his people oriented policies and programmes, just as he appreciated the special adviser to the governor on civic engagement, Honorable Bosun Oyintiloye who is from the local government for his support.
Speaking in the same vein, the chairman, Obokun Local Government Education Authority Board, Chief Biodun Owoeye, said the conduct of the exercise has so far been seamless.
Chief Owoeye maintained that the tremendous achievement recorded in all sectors by the state governor is enough to attract people to the party.
The obokun party leader, Otunba Ogunkeyede with APC party leaders in the local government also pay a condolence visit to Late Baba Adejorin’s wife at Ibokun where words of prayers were said to the family.
