The management of Iloko Model College (IMC) and Iloko Model Kiddies Academy, in collaboration with the school’s Board of Governors, celebrated the birthday and legacy of the late High Chief (Surv.) Joel Olushola Ogunsanya, the Baba Orisa of Iloko Ijesa and the immediate past Board Governor of the institution.
The school management, led by the Principal, Pastor Kayode Ogunwale, honored the life and immense contributions of the late High Chief. Pastor Ogunwale described him as a pillar of support to the school, its management, students, and pupils during his lifetime. Reflecting on his impact, Pastor Ogunwale noted that, if not for his untimely demise, the High Chief would have been celebrating his 80th birthday, adding that the commemoration was a testament to his enduring legacy.
As part of the celebration, the school management dedicated a block of classrooms to honor the memory of the late High Chief. They called on individuals to emulate his exemplary life and professional achievements as a renowned surveyor.
The Vice Principal, Mr. Samuel Olamikusibe, praised the late High Chief’s discipline, commitment, and willingness to listen and understand others. He recounted how the High Chief consistently prioritized the welfare of his community, the church, and humanity as a whole.
Comrade Olorunfemi Olatunji, representing the youth at the event, shared his personal experience with the late High Chief, highlighting his fatherly guidance in both academic and political pursuits. Similarly, Hon. Rotimi Fadare spoke of the transformative role the High Chief played in his life.
Chief Mrs. Oni, a community leader, praised the High Chief’s leadership as a regent for over seven and a half years. She described him as a mentor and a stalwart whose contributions to the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Iloko Ijesa, and the community remain indelible.
The Red House Master of Baba Orisa House at Iloko Model College also paid tribute to the High Chief’s unwavering support for the house, particularly during inter-house sports competitions and other school activities. He remarked on the late High Chief’s desire for excellence in all endeavors associated with his name.
Alayeluwa Oba Dr. Akeem Olusayo King Benjamin Ogungbangbe, the Owaloko of Iloko Ijesa, expressed gratitude for the High Chief’s dedication to the community, the school, the church, and the lives he impacted. The monarch prayed for the eternal repose of his soul and comfort for his family.
The family of the late High Chief, represented by his wife, Mrs. Toyin Ogunsanya, extended their appreciation to the Owaloko of Iloko Ijesa, the school management, the Board of Governors, and all attendees for honoring his memory through the dedication of a classroom block. She expressed her gratitude on behalf of the family and prayed for the continued success of the school and the well-being of its management, students, and the community.
The event served as a celebration of the late High Chief’s enduring legacy and his invaluable contributions to education, community development, and humanity. His life of service and commitment continues to inspire those he left behind.
