Osun State Chapter of Action Alliance (AA) has denied media reports that the party filed a petition to challenge the outcome of the state’s Senate and House of Representatives election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared all candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winners of the three senatorial seats and nine federal houses of representatives in the state.
Some candidates and their political parties who lost in the election, including the Action Alliance, were reported to have rejected the outcome of the election and vowed to challenge the outcome of the conduct.
But, the state chairman of the Action Alliance party, Ogunmodede Adeloye at a press briefing on Wednesday in Osogbo, said the party is not aware of the petition.
Adeloye claimed that those who filed the petition on behalf of the party were not members of the party.
The party’s chairperson stated that the national leadership had also directed him to withdraw the case despite not being aware of when it was filled.
“It came to the notice of the National Secretariat of our party some days ago that some disgruntled elements parading themselves as the Senatorial candidates and House of Assembly candidates of AA in Osun state filed some petitions at the Tribunal on the National Assembly Elections conducted on February 25, 2023.
“Action Alliance wish to notify good people of Osun state that the said petitions are not to our knowledge and the persons who filed them are not members of our party at any time.
“Moreso, the petitioners were never fielded as respective candidates of our party for the respective elections they are purportedly challenging.
“Sequel to this, the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Think Tank Committee (NTTC) of Action Alliance as directed me, Hon. Adeloye, to engage the services of a Lawyer or team of lawyers to immediately withdraw the said petition.”
