Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government Area of the Ogun State, Mr Bolaji Oluwaseun Odusanya, has been commended by the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun over community projects executed by his administration.
Governor Abiodun gave the commendation while inaugurating series of projects spread across the council area.
The projects include open stalls at Atikori/Ojowo market, store at Moslem Primary School, Oke Sopin community, motorised borehole at Oke-Jaga /Oke-Sopin as well.
Others are 700-seater multi-purpose hall ( Phase1) at the local government secretariat, construction of Gari/Grocery hall at Atikori market; rehabilitation of a block of two classrooms at Saint Mathews School 1, Ojowo; rehabilitation of a block of three classrooms at Moslem Primary School, Oke-Sopen; rehabilitation of Aba Panu Primary Health Centre, Ago-Iwoye; rehabilitation of Tekule Primary Health Centre, Ajegunle; rehabilitation of Agunboye/Asigidi Primary Health Centre and 12 deep-well projects across 11 wards.
Speaking at the event, Governor Abiodun who was represented by his Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rasak Daddah commended the council chairman for embarking on legacy projects, stressing that the success of any government was usually hinged on the responsiveness to the yearnings of the people
“Permit me to call you ‘Mr Project’, our chairman , you have done well with all the projects embarked upon . You have demonstrated to be a good representative of the governor and be part of the building our future together agenda..
“With what we are seeing today, your people are happy with you, especially with the way you have governed the local government area within the shortest time, keep it up,” the governor said.
Speaking, Odusanya expressed gratitude to the governor for supporting local government administration in the state, restated that the efforts were geared towards actualising the ‘lseya’ mantra by providing basic infrastructure.
“We touch the health education sectors, roads, youth empowerment, markets so as to improve the socio-economic activities of our council area.
“The new open stalls at Atikori market will enhance economic sustainability, thereby increasing the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the area, urging beneficiary communities to complement government’s efforts by protecting the facilities from vandals,” the council chairman said.
The former chairman of the local government, Olaide Osifeso and Assistant Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, appreciated the provision of infrastructural development across the state, as well as the unwavering support to local government chairmen, saying the projects will positively impact the communities..
Representative of the Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, Oba Abdulrasheed Abayomi Banjo, said that Odusanya is an achiever, adding that during his tenure the crisis in Ijebu-Igbo was stopped and kingmakers were able to install the traditional ruler of the community after 28 years of demise of the former monarch.
At the event, various youth council across the local government received commendation award for their contributions to the development of the local government area.
Dignitaries in attendance are Commissioner for Ministry of Community Development and Cooperation, Ademola Bagun; Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Olanike Ogunbona; Director of Local Government Affairs, Mr Olusegun Ibirinde and members of the APC in the local government area.
