In a significant development, Niger Delta activist Uzoka Chukwuemeka has called for the investigation and prosecution of several high-ranking officials from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). Chukwuemeka, who has been vocal in his advocacy for transparency in the oil and gas sector, made the call during the Niger Delta Oil and Gas Summit.

The individuals targeted in this demand include Mele Kolo Kyari, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Mr. Adokiye Tombomieye, the recently retired Executive Vice President of Upstream Operations, and Engr. Adeyemi Adetunji, the retired Executive Vice President of Downstream Operations. Chukwuemeka alleges that these officials have been involved in the misappropriation of the nation’s oil and gas wealth.
Through his legal representatives at Anwan Chambers and Co., Chukwuemeka has formally initiated legal proceedings, urging relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the actions of these executives and hold them accountable for any wrongdoing.
The activist’s move has drawn attention to the ongoing concerns about corruption within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, a sector that is crucial to the country’s economy. Calls for greater accountability and transparency in the management of the nation’s resources are expected to intensify following this development.
