The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Adamawa State chapter has announced that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri will implement the new minimum wage starting from August 2024.
The chapter chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, disclosed this today during an interview with journalists in Yola after a closed-door meeting with the governor.
He said, “Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved the payment of August salaries for civil servants, incorporating the new national minimum wage of ₦70,000.”

Recall that during the 2024 May Day celebration, the governor had promised to implement the Federal Government’s resolution on the new minimum wage.
Comrade Fashe added that the 2019 consequential adjustment template would be used to calculate the new wage percentages.
“The Accountant General’s office has been tasked with updating the August payroll accordingly,” he said.
However, local government workers may have to wait until September for their salary adjustments, pending the completion of the necessary review by the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission.
