Following the outbreak of measles in two local government areas of Adamawa state that claimed 42 lives, the Adamawa state government has shut down all public and private schools in Adamawa state.

Confirming the circular signed by the acting Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Post Primary School Board, Mr Samuel Wagereng, that all public and private schools must remain closed for one week, the commissioner of education, Dr Umar Pella, said the measure became necessary as part of preventative actions.

“The directives affect both public and private senior and junior secondary schools in the state.”

It could be recalled that the Nigeria Tribune reported last Friday that the Adamawa state government confirmed the outbreak of measles in two local government areas of the state that claimed 42 lives

Commissioner of Health and Human Services Chief Felix Tangwammi disclosed that ” the outbreak was recorded in 8 wards in Mubi and 7 wards in Gombi local government areas and killed 42 persons in 308 cases reported in both local government areas.”

Primary and secondary schools in Adamawa State resumed their third term today.
