Nationnewslead reports that The Government of Osun State under the leadership of Senator Ademola Adeleke has appointed a one-year old Elchanan Projects and Concept Limited as the consultant for the newly set-up transport management system in the state.
The company is expected to supervise the overall implementation of the transport sector reform in Osun State which includes a one-ticketing system approach aimed at increasing the internally generated revenue of the state.
Meanwhile, the search conducted on the website of the Corporate Affairs Commission indicates that the consulting firm was incorporated January 26, 2022, barely one year ago, with office adddress at G9, Presidential Advisory Qrts, Karu Site, Abuja.
A further search on the company did not return any information as to its capacity, track record and history in managing a project of this nature.
Reacting to the appointment, an Osogbo based financial management consultant, Dr Roland Opeyemi questioned the decision of the state government to appoint a company with no name and verifiable background to manage its transport system when there are many brands in the state that could render a similar service.
According to Dr Opeyemi, ” the choice of a completely obscure business entity, with office address traced to a northern party of the country, to generate revenue for the state government by Governor Adeleke is a sad reality of what has become of Osun based professionals. This is a clear indication that we are not regarded by the current governor whose social contract with us during his campaign is: Osun money would be for Osun people. That there wouldn’t be capital flight in his time. But what has become of this promise? It’s quite disappointing.”
In a similar development, a notorious political enforcer, Dauda Olamilekan, popularly called Emir Ajagungbade, has equally been named as member of the Transport Disciplinary Committee announced today by the government of Osun State.
Emir, who was declared wanted by the Nigeria Police a couple of months ago for his involvement in murder, kidnapping and armed robbery cases in the state, has been said to be enjoying the full protection of Governor Adeleke even though he (Emir) has been fingered in some of the recent violent attacks against members of the opposition party, APC, in the state.
