The Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Mr. Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, has described the present government in Osun State, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, as an underperforming government, citing a lack of meaningful achievements and beneficial programmes for the state. Despite receiving substantial funds as monthly allocations, the government has focused controversial projects and neglected the people’s needs.
Mr. Alabi stated this in a recent interview with the correspondent of RAVE FM after his appearance as a guest on a television programme called Spring Delight at Western Springs TV, Agunbelewo, Osogbo. He said the government’s performance over the past year and a half has been underwhelming, with no notable accomplishments to speak of.
According to him, Governor Adeleke’s government has done nothing to be assessed as performance in the last year and a half in Osun. They are not building blocks to sustain the people of Osun. There are no essential policies and programmes that can lead to good fortune in the state. They are just engaging in activities that need to be questioned.
He emphasized that the All Progressives Congress remains a strong and political force that all its structures are in place, poised to regain power in 2026.
Regarding the federal government’s policies, Mr. Alabi acknowledged that Nigeria is in a period of rebuilding under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership. He urged state governors to take responsibility and make the most of the resources provided by the federal government.
“On the economy, like I said earlier, Nigeria is undergoing a rebuilding process and everything needs to be tough and rough before the building stands. I urge all Nigerians to keep hope alive and bear with the federal government that what remains is not up to what we have endured,” Alabi added.
