THE African Aerospace and Aviation University (AAAU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Nile University of Nigeria (NUN) on admission of students for aviation-related courses.
Speaking in Abuja, the outgoing Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika said that the commencement of the aero¬space university will seek to change the face of aviation training and studentship in Nigeria and the entire African continent being the first of its kind on the continent.
Sirika stated that the aero¬space university will also meet the African Union (AU) Agenda 2050 just as he declared that the In¬ternational Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and other international institutions have shown the willingness to partner with the university.
According to Sirika, the in¬take of students for the 2023-2024 academic session starts in Sep-tember this year from the NUN.
He emphasised that Nile University will provide teaching and researches for the smooth takeoff of the programmes for the first two years, while students will also spend their initial two years period at the school before proceeding to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (Nimet) and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria for the continuation of their programmes.
Apart from the intake of students for its first-degreeprogrammes, Sirika also in¬formed that the institution will offer Master’s Degree programmes in various aviation related fields.
