The president of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwunmi Adeshina will on Friday, December 8 deliver the convocation Lecture at the 2nd Veritas University Digital Innovations Exhibition and the 12th Convocation Lecture of the Veritas University, Abuja.
Dr Akinwunmi who was Nigeria’s former Minister of Agriculture during the Goodluck Jonathan Administration between 2015 and 2019 will be speaking on the theme “Africa, Its Your Time” on Friday, 8th December, 2023, according to a statement by the Head of Corporate Affairs and Communication of the University, Ben Agande.
Agande added the convocation would witness the conferment of Honorary Degrees on three distinguished Nigerians: the President of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwumi Adeshina, Chief Anthony Idigbe SAN, and Most Reverend Fortunatus Nwachukwu.
According to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Rev Fr Hyacinth Ichoku, a total of five Hundred Nineteen (519) students will be awarded first degrees while sixty-eight persons will be awarded Masters Degrees and five, Ph.D.
Out of the number of Undergraduates that will be presented for the convocation, thirty-four (34) graduated with First Class degrees; two hundred and thirty-six (236) with Second Class, Upper Division; two Hundred and Nineteen (219) with Second Class Lower Division while Thirty-one (31) graduated with Third Class Degrees.
The Department of Computer Science has the highest number of graduates at one hundred and Fifteen while Marketing Department has the lowest number of graduates at three.
