A fast-moving wildfire broke out near Castaic Lake, 35 miles north of Los Angeles, on Wednesday, forcing many families to leave their homes.
The fire quickly spread, burning 3,400 acres (1,400 hectares) in just two hours. Strong, dry Santa Ana winds made the flames even more dangerous, pushing smoke and embers into nearby neighborhoods.

“I’m just hoping our house doesn’t burn,” one man said as he packed his car to leave. Police officers drove through the area, urging residents to evacuate for their safety.
This comes as Southern California is still recovering from recent wildfires that killed more than 25 people and destroyed thousands of homes. Now, families are left to hope and pray that the flames don’t take everything they have.
