Niger Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has said that his administration has concluded plans to train no fewer than 10,000 female medical doctors for the next 10 years in the state.
He also revealed that the present administration will provide one million computers and tablets for all the public schools in the State.
The Governor stated this in his remarks while declaring open the North Central Traditional and Religious Leaders Conference on the Significance of Girls Child Education organized by the Federal Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the State Ministry of Basic And Secondary Education, and Adolescent Girls Initiatives For Learning And Empowerment AGILE, held on Tuesday in Minna, the state capital.
Governor Umaru Bago said his administration will provide Free internet services to all the primary, and secondary schools and Tertiary Institutions in parts of the State to make education easier and interesting for the students.
In his keynote address, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar 111, said he is committed to promoting and supporting Girl’s child education in Northern Nigeria and commended Niger state governor for the ongoing construction and other Infrastructure projects by his administration.
The Minister of Education, Mr.Tunji Alausa, represented by Alhaji Sorajo, described the conference as apt and in line with the federal government’s efforts to improve the education of the girl children in the country.
National Coordinator of Adolescent Girls Initiatives And Empowerment, AGILE, Mrs. Amina Buba Haruna, explained that the overall objectives of the AGILE project are to create awareness of the significance of girls’ education and to ensure that all girls have access to quality education Irrespective of religious affiliation.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Niger State Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Doctor. ( Mrs.) Hadiza Asabe Mohammed, commended the State Governor, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago for his leadership style, urging Nigerians, particularly Nigerlites to support the governor with their prayers to be successful and the ability to complete everything that he has started since he assumed office as the governor of the State on May 29, 2023, in the state.
