Former Nigeria Ambassador to Mexico, Hon. Adejare Bello, remarked on Sunday that the agitators for military takeover during the recent #EndBadGovernance protests in Nigeria had ulterior motives.

Bello, former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, made the remark at an event in Ede where he debunked claims from some quarters that he was planning to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He described those behind the calls for military intervention as myopic in reasoning and short-sighted in thoughts.

“Some people are so myopic that they are calling for a Military takeover. Are we trying to set the country backwards? May God forbid that. Tinubu has gotten a mandate of four years in the first instance, and before he completes his tenure, Nigeria will be better.”

“It is a simple fact and the truth that things are hard and the President himself has never pretended that it is not true. Things are extremely difficult for Nigerians but the rot that has been on ground since 1960 is what Tinubu is trying to correct. ”

“I am very sure Nigeria will become a better country that everyone will be proud of but we must be patient with him. Things will change for the better. Things would have gone back if he had not done some of the things he did.

“I want to also use this medium to dispel insinuations that I am planning to go back to the Peoples Democratic Party because the incumbent governor of Osun State is from Ede and also my friend. There is no iota of truth in it.”

“The governor is my friend, and we do meet sometimes, but that does not mean I’m going to the PDP. I and my people are still solid in the APC and we have no reason whatsoever to leave the party.”

The former ambassador who hosted leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress, argued that, some of the reforms embarked upon by the present administration under President Tinubu, are needed to get the country back to the one citizens of the country will be proud of.
