THE 2024 International Islamic Conference (Jalsa Salana) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the United Kingdom begins today.
The conference, which will be rounded off on Sunday, will take place at the Hadeqatul Mahdi, Oakland Farm, East Worldham.
The Jalsa Salana, an annual gathering of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, was initiated by the founder of the Islamic group Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad.
The purpose of the gathering is to enable every sincere individual to personally experience benefits from special reading from the Holy Qur’an, speeches by the world head of the Ahmadiyya community and special congregational prayers.
The Nigerian delegation to the conference, according to the head of media relations of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Dr Qasim Akinreti, is led by the national head of the jama’at, Alhaji Azeez Alatoye, and other prominent members of the Islamic community in the country.
International media networks across Africa such as Murhi International Television (MITV) and Ghana Broadcasting Corporation will broadcast the events live for the three days.
Television Continental (TVC), African Independent Television (AIT) and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) are covering the conference.
A radio channel, Jalsa Radio, will also broadcast the live proceedings. The events will also be monitored on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube.
