Stakeholders in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area  of Akwa Ibom State have declared support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Pastor Umo Eno in the forthcoming general election, saying that the people of the local government will never flirt with any other political party or risk its decade-long loyalty to the PDP.

Speaking at the PDP campaign rally in the council, key stakeholders and political leaders in the area said Ibiono Ibom has benefited immensely from the PDP government over the years and cannot turn their back on the party at this critical time.

They declared that the people of the local government will vote in large number for Eno and all other candidates of the party.

Stakeholders present at the decision are Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong; the Abai of Ibiono, Obong Nsima Umoh; Chairman of the local government, Ekopimo Polycarp, Federal House of Representatives candidate, Ime Okon; state House of Assembly member, Godwin Ekpo;  Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Mr. Aniefiok Iwaudofia,  among others.

They noted that a handful of Ibiono people who have left to experiment with one or two alien political parties did so after accumulating enormous benefits from the PDP’s government, stressing that those who bite the fingers that fed them never succeed or go too far in their adventures.

Obong Nsima Umoh, who is the crowned pillar of Ibiono Ibom, likened politics to a football match with two types of spectators, namely those who cheer and clap before a goal is scored and those who clap and applaud only after a goal is scored.

He said that those who clap before a goal is scored inspire their team to victory while the latter are merely moved by impulse.

He urged Ibiono people to clap now while the political goal is about to be scored.

On his part, Comrade Ememobong said PDP has provided good covering for the people of the area since 1999, adding that the major players have resolved to remain under the umbrella and not to embark on unnecessary and hasty experiments.

He said that Ibiono elite and masses have always played key roles in successive PDP administrations in the state, especially under Governor Udom Emmanuel; stressing that they were obligated to reciprocate and take sides with the completion agenda of the governor, which include the election of Pastor Eno and all PDP candidates in the coming elections.

Hon. Polycarp and Iwaudofia commended Governor Emmanuel for the numerous development projects in Ibiono Ibom and the appointments of Ibiono Ibom indigenes into strategic positions in government.

They assured everyone that the victory of PDP in the area will be a landslide, just as they urged the candidate to ensure the completion of Use-Ikot Amama road which has remained an object of ridicule to the community since a long time ago.

In his remarks, Eno said he will construct the busy Use-Ikot Amama road, the Ikpanya road linking Ibiono to Uyo, establish a fashion village, low cost housing estate, modern market and invest in commercial agriculture in the area, adding that the plans were part of his economic development blueprint known as the ARISE Agenda.

Wife of the state governor, Mrs Martha Emmanuel, urged the people of Ibiono to vote for Eno, who, according to her, has the capacity to further the trajectory of peace and development which has enveloped the state during her husband’s administration.
