Indications have emerged that all activities planned for the celebration of the 70th birthday of Mrs Betty Akeredolu, the wife of the Ondo state governor, have been suspended due to the health condition of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Mrs Akeredolu confirmed this development on her Twitter handle, explaining that the suspension was due to circumstances beyond her control. She expressed that as long as there is life, there will always be room for a party and that the celebration can take place at any time.

In her tweet, she stated: “Family and Friends. This is to inform you that all activities lined up to mark my 70th birthday are hereby suspended till further notice due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this development.

“Nevertheless, be assured that I will be celebrated in style upon my return. As long as there is life, ‘Owambe’ (party) can come at any time. Thank you for your understanding. I remain Arabinrin a.k.a Ada Owere I.”

Initially, the first lady’s decision to celebrate her 70th birthday received criticism from various quarters. She faced backlash for planning the celebration while her husband is critically ill, and many questioned the motive behind the celebration during the governor’s medical leave.
