THE Supreme Council of Owu Muslims has installed Dr Ismail Akindele as the new Baba Adeen of Owu Kingdom.
The ceremony was held on Monday at the Owu Central Mosque, Owu-Apo, Abeokuta, Ogun State, was witnessed by the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola; former Nigeria High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola; the Chief Imam of Owu Kingdom, Alhaji Kehinde, among other Muslim leaders and personalities.
Addressing the gathering, the Sultan of Owu Muslims, Dr M.A. Ola Yusuf, hinted that Dr Akindele was not chosen for the title because of his wealth or status in the society, but because of his commitment to Islam and contributions to the entire Owu community.
Dr Yusuf charged the Baba Adeen to see his new status as a call to greater service to Allah and humanity.
Ambassador Ishola admonished Dr Akindele to support the chief imam in lifting Islam in Owu community.
The Mufasir of Owu Kingdom, Alhaji Sharafdeen Daud, noted that the new Baba Adeen was found worthy of the position because of his dedication to the development of Islam in Owu Kingdom.
Oba Matemilola, in a remark, acknowledged the selflessness and contributions of new Baba Adeen to the development of Islam and Owu Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Akindele promised to justify the confidence reposed in him and serve Owu Kingdom to the best of his ability.
“This is a great opportunity to serve Almighty Allah and humanity. This is what we have been doing before. I will continue to do that because the essence of life, as far as I am concerned, is to strive to have a place in Aljanah,” he added.
