
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, along with other members of the Nigerian delegation, has arrived in Vatican City in preparation for Pope Francis’ funeral, set to take place on Saturday.
Akpabio is in charge of a distinguished five-member team that President Bola Tinubu sent to represent Nigeria at the late head of the Roman Catholic Church’s funeral.

The delegation also comprises the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu; the President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji; Archbishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Sokoto Diocese; and Archbishop Ignatius Ayua Kaigama of the Abuja Diocese.
“As the Leader of Nigeria’s delegation to the burial ceremony of Pope Francis, I paid tribute to our departed Pope, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian People at the Lying-in-State of Pope Francis, inside St Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City,” Akpabio wrote in a post on Facebook on Friday.
