Akwa Ibom State is reeling from allegations of widespread wrongdoing by a commissioner in the state executive council, from Uyo Federal Constituency. The commissioner, whose name has not been disclosed, stands accused of extortion, emotional manipulation, and exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
Sources reveal that the commissioner has allegedly extorted large sums of money from numerous individuals, promising to secure political offices for them. He is also accused of collecting compensation meant for a family whose child was killed in an accident involving a construction firm linked to him.
Furthermore, the commissioner has been accused of impregnating and abandoning multiple women, seeking spiritual powers from herbalists to manipulate and control his victims. His actions have left a trail of devastated lives, with calls for his immediate removal and prosecution growing louder.
Stakeholders from his constituency have expressed outrage, stating that such an individual has no place in the executive council of a Governor known for his integrity and compassion. They have vowed to reveal the commissioner’s name and submit a formal petition to the Governor, demanding refunds of all monies collected, if he fails to take action.
“We will not let this matter drop,” said one stakeholder. “The Governor must act decisively to remove this individual and restore the public’s trust.”
Another stakeholder alleged, “The commissioner uses the Governor’s name to perpetrate evil, boasting that he is sent by the Governor, and alluring political powers to himself. This is a disgrace to the Governor’s administration and a betrayal of public trust.”
The people of Akwa Ibom State eagerly await the Governor’s response, demanding justice and accountability for the alleged wrongdoing.
