Anyone waiting for the arrival of the new Alaafin via (ifa) oracle consultation is a certified unserious element.
It is the civic responsibility of the state governor to decide who should be the next king in his domain.
The governor can only be challenged/ sue to court if the candidate is not related to the ruling house. As long as governor’s choice is a bona-fide member with integrity, exposed and educated. People have no choice.
The late Alaafin, oba lamidi adeyemi, was never chosen by any oracle. It was the then wealthiest oyo illustrious son, late Chief Emmanuel Oyedele Ashamu. Popularly known as Chief E. O. Asamu or The Mayo of Oyo . Who facilitated the ascension of oba lamidi with the support of obafemi awolowo. Chief asamu was prominent in the Nigerian business sector during the 1960s – 1990s. He was a pharmacist by profession and the owner of Industrial Chemists Ltd. His networth was about three hundred million dollars in the 80s.
He liased with the late Chief Obafemi Jeremiah Oyeniyi Awolowo to install lamidi adeyemi with all the powers within their capacity.
Awolowo jumped at the offer of Chief asamu, like grabbing a very soft gala in lagos traffic. Awolowo saw the offer as an avenue to settle the misunderstanding between himself and the unhappy oyo people over a regretful action taken by Awolowo against the Alaafin Raji adeniran,The father of the immediate Alaafin oba lamidi
The unjust action taken by Awolowo was a major blockage against his political career. That’s a story for another day.
They fought massively to ensure lamidi became the alaafin.
It was Prince ladepo the kingmakers (oyomesi) selected. The letter was retrieved from him by the government and delivered to late lamidi adeyemi.
Oyo stool’s aspirants should rally round good people with a very big value of recommendation that can vouch for them and recommend them to the government. No ifa will choose alaafin. The Oluwo of iwo Land said it long ago.
I understand that candidates can never accept the recommendation of a kingmaker whose voice is all over, telling people how he collected money, that he did not consult any oracle, but only choose candidate based on payment. Shall we classify that a semi-fraud or what? Someone knew what he was going to do, and he collected money from over sixty candidates. That action deserves prosecution and, most importantly, being sent to jail.
that is not the kind of elders the young generation should be looking up to as role models.
The only option that will minimise the court cases and noises is the intervention of government, but the government should act fast. Unless they don’t want progress for the ancient town (oyo)
No one should expect the government to install a thief, fraudster, illiterate, or no future ambition. personality that will disgrace a very gracious stool of alaafin.
If Governor makinde has rejected a particular candidate, the kingmakers should go and present another name . Oyo is missing. All the promises made by President bola tinubu with the late oba adeyemi during electioneering might not be fulfilled without an alaafin on the throne.
Going to court is like wasting all your precious time, energy, and resources. Even in Heaven , you can’t win the government over such an issue.
