Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has downgraded two officers from the service having been indicted of gross misconduct which contravened laid rules and regulations of Civil service.

The decision was taken during the Commission’s 27th and 28th Plenary sessions held on Tuesday and Thursday last week.

The Commission also formalized the promotion of some Officers and had also taken measures against exam malpractice in furtherance of its avowed commitment to sustaining effectiveness in the Service.

Those officers downgraded are One Shamsuddeen Baban Takko, Senior Executive Officer ( General)  a Staff of the Bauchi State Agency for Mass Education (BASAME) who was found guilty during the last Civil Service Promotion Examination exercise held on 30th March 2024.

He was found to have written the exams on behalf of one Sadiya Abdullahi, Higher Assistant Education Officer of the same Office which was considered as gross misconduct and their action has contravened Public Service Rules (PSR) 0312 (xii) a, and b.

Shamsuddeen Baban Takko was on GL-09 and has been downgraded to GL-08, while Sadiya Abdullahi who was the candidate for the exam was also downgraded from GL-08 to GL-07.

The session also formalized the approval of the Governor, for the deployment of 3 Officers to the Office of the State Accountant General and also considered the promotion of  16 Officers for Acting and substantive Appointment to various cadres as recommended by the Office of the State Head of Civil Service while some cases from the Health Management Board were deferred for lack in merit.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Commission, Alh. Abubakar Usman emphasized that the Commission’s action demonstrated its commitment to maintaining integrity and fairness in the promotion exams process and ensuring that only deserving Officers are promoted based on their merit and performance.

He once again implored the promoted Staff to reciprocate the gesture by being dedicated and committed to their work and maintaining honesty and integrity in the discharge of their official responsibilities as contained in a statement by Saleh Umar I.O. BSCSC.
