Governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi, Senator Dino Melaye has described Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Unduaghan, the PDP senatorial candidate for Kogi Central, as “Amazon of Nigeria politics”.

Melaye made the assertion when he received a group under the aegis of Ovidi Family in his Abuja residence, on Sunday.

“Natasha is the Amazon of Nigerian politics, she’s being admired beyond her imagination.

“We will work in unison, we will deliver Kogi State and show how to run government,” he said.

Earlier, the group, known for projecting the vision of Natasha, said competence should be allowed to determine the choice of who becomes the next governor of the State.

The group also assured Melaye of their support ahead of the gubernatorial election.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Fortune Omuya Salawu, said the Ovidi Family believes in competence over primordial sentiment and has resolved to work for the victory of the PDP standard-bearer to change the approach of governance in the state which he said has brought hardship to the people in the last seven years.

He explained that Ebira people are known for fairness, equity, and justice and will not support the ambition of a few individuals who are projecting their selfish interest and giving it an ethnic colouration.

He noted that the antecedents of Dino Melaye as a strong voice for the masses while in the Senate has distinguished him amongst other candidates, adding that his zone, Kogi West senatorial district, has not produced the governor of the State which also gives him an edge over others.

On the choice of the Deputy Governorship candidate of the party, Barr. Natasha commended Melaye for choosing a female running mate, adding that it is a level of inclusiveness for women who have been sidelined in elective positions.
