The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) has resolved its leadership crisis with the installation of Dr. Uche Odionyemms as its new national President.

This decision was made at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Owerri on Saturday, chaired by Prof. Dennis Edo Agbonlahor.

The meeting brought together 32 representatives from 14 critical stakeholders, including past presidents, national executive officers, and zonal representatives.

The stakeholders resolved to enforce the AMLSN Constitution and Code of Conduct to address indiscipline among members.

They also agreed to ensure that electoral committees adhere to constitutional provisions and commended the Board of Trustees for swearing in the new national president.

The leadership urged Dr. Casmir Ifeanyi to pursue his case legally and stop parading himself as National President, emphasizing the importance of abiding by the Constitution and rule of law.

They called for the resumption of association activities at the AMLSN Secretariat with adequate security measures and promoted transparency and accurate information dissemination.

The stakeholders stressed the need for Alternative Dispute Resolution but noted that court judgments have overtaken this option. They called for the amendment of the constitution but advised against frequent reviews.

The leadership advised Dr. Uche Odionyemms to serve with the current national executive officers until the end of their tenure and encouraged members to rely on documented evidence rather than hearsay.

They challenged members to foster harmonious collaboration and understanding between AMLSN and MLSCN for professional growth, development, and stability.

The meeting however mandated the Executive Secretary, Mr. Godwin Ihimekpen to communicate these resolutions to all relevant stakeholders, which includes branches of the Association (AMLSN), all affiliate and sub-groups of AMLSN, Federal Ministry of Health, Commissioner of Police, FCT, FCID Abuja, MLSCN, AMLSN bankers and other relevant Agencies of Government.

They equally advised Dr. Casmir Ifeanyi to henceforth stop parading himself as National President.

The stakeholders expressed optimism with the outcome of the deliberations and directed all members to adhere strictly to these resolutions which are aimed at restoring peace and tranquillity coupled with direction to the Association.
