A support group known as Solution Marshals has canvassed for the re-election of Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, as a reward for his remarkable achievement within the two years of his stay in office.
The group stated this on Friday, when, in company with journalists, they embarked on a project inspection tour to some ongoing/completed projects of the current administration in the state to assess the level of work.
The projects inspected during the tour include the ongoing construction of the Ekwulobia flyover, the Ekwulobia General Hospital, the rehabilitated Okpoko slum, and the Okpoko General Hospital, respectively.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the tour at the premises of Okpoko General Hospital in Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state, the National Coordinator of solution marshals, Comrade Osita Obi, said the reason for the inspection tour is to verify the claims of the government about ongoing and completed projects and for the people to see how the taxes they pay are being put to use.
According to him, “Okpoko is one of the biggest slums in the West Africa region, which influenced the choice of this visit to see things for ourselves.
Also, the aim of the tour is to market the state government from a private angle and to tell Anambra registered voters the reason why they should massively reelect Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the 2025 governorship election in the state.
Obi said the governor has done tremendously well and deserves support from the people to achieve his developmental agenda for the state this tenure and that of 2025.
He noted further that the Anambra government is gradually ending the era of schools without teachers with the employment of 5,000 teachers in its first phase of recruitment. He noted the government has revived the healthcare system such that pregnant women receive free antenatal and give birth free of charge in the state. He added that the empowerment of 5,000 youths through one youth-two-skills with grants for start-up has eliminated crime and hard drug intake by youths of the state.
The coordinator commended journalists for their continued support in projecting the activities of Governor Soludo positively.
On his part, the Secretary General of the group, Comrade Emmanuel Oramalu, said, “What we are saying is that Soludo is working. This is the first time in the history of politics in Nigeria that a first-time governor deliberately delivered dividends of democracy to the people without thinking about the next election.
“From his first day in office, he showed the people that he came to work for them. Through Soludo, the story of Okpoko in the Ogbaru council area has changed. He has transformed Okpoko, and today there are hospitals, schools, roads, and even water to drink in the area that has been abandoned for decades.
Oramalu appeals to the people to support the governor’s second-term ambition to enable him to actualise his vision of making Anambra a livable and prosperous state in Nigeria.
In their unanimous remarks, the Senior Medical Officer in charge of the Okpoko General Hospital, Dr. KC Nnadi, and her Ekwulobia General Hospital counterpart, Dr. Madubuike Chinelo, praised Governor Soludo’s ingenuity in establishing the hospitals for the less privileged in the areas.
They highlighted Soludo’s free antenatal services as unprecedented, noting that the facilities, despite being underutilised, attend to an average of 120 patients monthly.
The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the Solution Marshalls consist of keke drivers, shuttle bus drivers, and truck drivers registered under the State Ministry of Transport.
