The leading APC aspirant for the 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has expressed his condolences to the family of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University lecturer who was gunned down in Awka, the state capital, last weekend.
In a statement issued by his Campaign Council spokesperson, Mr. James Eze, Sir Chukwuma said, “I’m traumatized by the tragic death of this young man, who carried not only the hopes of his family but also the dreams of his country. The death of any human being diminishes me, but the death of a teacher is a colossal loss to humanity.”
According to him, the slain lecturer, Dr. Osita Chinedu, was a brilliant young man who had shown great promise as a scholar of note. His talent would have enriched academia had he not been cut down in his prime.

Sir Chukwuma observed that civilization and human progress had very little to do with building bridges and other physical infrastructure and much more to do with the value a society places on the life of an individual. “Human beings are the agents of civilization and should be prioritized over physical development. Every responsible government should know this,” he declared.
Decrying the worsening insecurity in the state, Sir Chukwuma stated that the freedom enjoyed by criminal elements in the state had become unacceptable. “We should all be worried at the ease with which criminals carry out their operations in our dear state. How could violent criminals gun down a citizen at the strategically busy Aroma Junction in the heart of Awka and escape without any challenge at all? Is that not a blow to our pride as a decent people?” he queried.
He challenged the APGA government in the state to sit up for once and prioritize the safety and security of Ndi Anambra above grand rhetoric and tenuous claims of building roads and bridges, saying, “roads and bridges are for the living, not the dead. The sooner we realize this, the better for us all, because maybe the huge security votes drawn from the coffers of Anambra State shall finally be invested in securing public safety for all.”
Sir Chukwuma urged the family of the deceased lecturer to take heart, saying, “My thoughts and prayers are with you in this moment of grief. May God grant you the fortitude to bear this great loss.”
