Anambra youths promise to key into feed-to-farm initiative

As part of the continued effort to curb the hardship in Nigeria, thousands of Anambra youths under the umbrella of Youth Earnestly Support Soludo (YESS), has promised to key into the state governor’s feed-to-farm initiative.

The youth made their position known at a one-day Symposium, tagged; ‘Anambra Solution: Youth 2Youth Mentorship Roundtable’ organised by the office of the Special Adviser to State Governor, Charles Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programme, held at the International Convention Centre Awka, on Sunday.

According to them, farm to feed is possible in Anambra State with financial support from the state government.

“We are very much ready to key into the farm to feed programme of Governor Soludo if we have the funds, especially, now that the country is been ravage by hunger. Funds is the major challenged that is discouraging a lot of us in Nigeria from venturing into farming. We want the government to assist provide us with money and every youth in this country will go into farming completely, because, Agriculture remains number one heriditory economy sector in Nigeria.

“The ongoing nationwide endbadgovernance protest wouldn’t have come up if Nigeria government channel more funds into the sector.

“So, our unanimous take home from this symposium today, is a call for governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to assist us with money to enable us key fully into his farm to feed initiative,” the youth appealed.

The Convener of YESS and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth empowerment programme, Dr Nelson Obinna Omenugha, in his address assured the youth of Governor Soludo’s continuous support for youth empowerment programmes in the state.

He noted that YESS as a notable political group in Nigeria has continued to impact the society positively and encouraged members to remain steadfast.

Omenugha also used the occasion to call on the youths to support the progressive leadership of Governor Soludo, even as he advised them to meaningfully engage themselves through other skill acquisition, such as the ongoing one youth, two skills empowerment programme.

He pointed out that youths are the engine of sustainable development and emphasized the need for Anambra youths to rise against any form of protest targeting to distract Government policies and programmes.

Omenugha also commended Governor Soludo for launching the farm to feed programme and other avenue to get the youths involved, and prayed that the his eight years administration will bring greater opportunities to Ndi-Anambra.

The event which feature the distribution of over 100 palm trees to the youths also has in attendence, the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha-Mba, the Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North Council Area, Hon ThankGod Anagor, Dr Comfort Nwagbu, of the Department of Food Science/Technology and her counterpart, Dr. Uju Nwogu, both from the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Igbariam, Anambra State.

Tribune Online gathered that the symposium is coming bearly 24-hours after the governor flags off the operation feed-to-farm initiative against hunger in the state.
