All is set for the 2024 distinguished Emeka Anyaoku annual lecture series, which will be held on Thursday, 3rd of October, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
Prof. Anthony Kila, a renowned political economist and centre director of the Commonwealth International of Advanced and Professional Studies, is billed to deliver the lecture, which is the 13th edition.
He will speak on “Imperative of Good Governance in Nigeria.”
The event will be hosted by the Rivers State governor, Mr Siminalayi Fubara, while Richard Montgomery, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, will be the guest of honour, and Prof. Joseph Ajienka, the 7th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, will chair it.
The Emeka Anyaoku Lecture series is an annual lecture aimed at fostering ideas and conversations on good governance in Nigeria.
The lecture is in honour of Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations and current chairman of “The Patriots.”
Confirming his role at the event, Prof. Anthony Kila said he was delighted and honoured to be nominated to deliver the lecture.
The state governors of Lagos, Anambra, Delta, Ogun, Edo, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo, Oyo, and Akwa Ibom, respectively, hosted previous lectures in the series.
The distinguished series has been graced by some of the respected Nigerian intellectuals and public figures, including Prof. Anya Anya, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, the late Prof. Dora Akunyili, Prof. Pat Utomi, Prof. Ayo Olukotun, Prof. Hope Eghagha, and others.
Past series of the event have also been chaired by esteemed personalities such as Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd), Chief John Oyegun, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Governor Donald Duke, Prof. Barth Nneji, and Sen. Ben Obi.
