Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has canvassed support for Mr Francis Nwifuru, the Ebonyi All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Saturday’s election.

Mr Anyim, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, said this on Wednesday in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area (LGA) of the state when he addressed the people, ahead of the governorship poll.

Despite being a PDP stalwart, Anyim urged the people to vote for the APC candidate in the election.

“When the southern district sought to govern the state in 2015, the north supported us wholly and we should reciprocate such presently,” he said.

Mr Anyim had said that he would not support the PDP’s candidate who hailed from the same southern district of the state as him.

The former SGF seems to have reconciled with Gov. Dave Umahi after they parted ways following the governor’s defection from the PDP to the APC in 2020.

Also speaking, Mr Umahi said he would fully operate as the chief security officer of the state during the election in Ebonyi.

The governor said that he was not fully active on Feb.25 during the presidential and national assembly poll because he was deeply involved.

“I did not come out on February 25 because I was contesting the election but will come out on March 18.

“When you cast your vote, go home and rest.

“Do not walk about on election day because I will come.

“You should, however, be strong in the mind as you vote for the broom symbol because I am there,” he said.

He advised the people not to make mistakes while voting for the APC to prevent the occurrence of February 25.

Mr Umahi said that massive votes for the APC candidate would translate into developmental negotiation for the people in the incoming administration.
