The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has tasked the embattled Governor Ademola Adeleke to be honest enough to disclose to his sheepish and blind followers the authentic report of the meeting of his emissaries with the nation’s Attorney-General of the Federation on the interpretation of the Court of Appeal judgement that reinstated the APC council chairmen and councillors.

It was learnt that last week, Governor Adeleke sent a powerful delegation led by one of his most senior political appointees to meet with the Attorney-General of the Federation to formally brief him on the result of the purported local government council elections held on 22nd of February, 2025 against the legal advice given to the governor not to go ahead with the elections as there were no vacancies by virtue of the Court of Appeal judgement of 10th of February, 2025.

Information has it that the report of the meeting of the Osun State government delegation with the number one law officer of the Federation has been a monumental source of worry to the Adeleke government which, all along, has been lavishing the allocations of the local government councils.

It was gathered that the number one law officer of the Federation told the Adeleke delegation the raw truth about the interpretation of the law with reference to the logjam on the local government administration in the state.

We want to implore Governor Adeleke to stop deceiving his gullible members and uninformed supporters, rather be bold enough to tell them the truth about the current administration of the local government arm of the government that is now legally in the firm control by the elected APC chairmen and councillors.

Governor Adeleke should stop frustrating the local government administration with his actions as such executive posture is not in tandem with the terms of the oath of office he swore to.

We are aware of the fact that the landmark Court of Appeal judgement of the 10th of February, 2025 which reinstated the APC chairmen and councillors caught Governor Adeleke and his cohorts pant down but that is the current position of the law until it is changed by the decision of the apex court of the land which is the final arbiter in this case.

The only way out for Governor Adeleke in this instance is for him to go back to the drawing board and learn how to co-exist with the APC local government chairmen and councillors in the current political arrangement of the state whereby the APC is having a legal authority to occupy and administer the third tier of the government.

If it is happening in Edo State under the forward-looking APC Governor Monday Okpebholo, why should it be an anathema in Osun State? Governor Adeleke should sit up and come up to terms that the State of the Virtuous is not a private estate of anyone. It has to be governed according to the rule of law.

Mogaji KOLA OLABISI, Osun State APC Director of Media and Information.
