The All Progressives Congress (APC) Unity and Reconciliation Forum, North West, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, for their relentless efforts in addressing insecurity in the region.
This was disclosed by the Coordinator of the North West APC Reconciliation Forum, Comrade Bello Muazu Sokoto, in a statement issued on Thursday evening.
Comrade Bello Sokoto noted that the appointment of Bello Matawalle as Minister of State for Defence has yielded positive results in the fight against banditry, particularly with the recent successes recorded in the North West.
According to him, the Minister of State for Defence has been coordinating the fight against bandits on behalf of President Tinubu, who serves as the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has the right to delegate any of his ministers to undertake assignments on his behalf. This constitutional right was the reason the Minister of State for Defence, along with all service chiefs, was sent on a mission to fight and defeat the bandits recently in the North West zone,” he stated.
He emphasised that criticisms against Matawalle’s involvement in the mission to end banditry in the North West are unwarranted, noting that significant progress has been made in the fight against insecurity in the region.
Comrade Bello also revealed that the North West APC Reconciliation Forum has concluded arrangements for a one-day lecture and the presentation of an award to President Tinubu and the Minister of State for Defence for their outstanding performance and resilience in combating insecurity in the North West.
“We have made all necessary arrangements to honour our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the 5th of October at Area House, Kaduna, by God’s grace, and we will present a letter of appreciation to him on the 6th of October to show our gratitude for his exemplary leadership,” he concluded.
