Miffed by the non-appointment of a minister from Plateau State eight months after the former governor of the state, Senator Simon Lalong, resigned as a minister to take his seat in the Senate, members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, under the aegis of “Plateau APC likes Mind,” have implored President Tinubu to comply with the constitutional provisions by appointing a minister from the state.

The group, in a statement signed by its leader, Hon. Hassan Isa Maimadara, commended the president for his style of leadership and vision for a prosperous Nigeria, adding that there is a need to appoint a minister from Plateau State to complement and add value to whatever the president is doing.

“We recall with pride the pivotal role Plateau State played in your electoral success, delivering an impressive 307,195 votes, exceeding the 25% requirement and surpassing many other states.

“However, we humbly bring to your attention the pressing need to appoint a minister from Plateau State to fill the vacancy that has existed for over eight months. This void has left our state without representation in the Federal Executive Council, despite our significant contribution to your electoral victory.

“Mr. President, we respectfully remind you that Section 147 of the Constitution’s Fifth Alterations mandates that each state shall have at least one minister representing it in the Federal Executive Council. Unfortunately, Plateau State’s non-representation has left us under-represented,” they said.

The group also said the APC has two senators, five members of the House of Representatives, and 22 members of the House of Assembly, but said six of the House of Assembly members have not been sworn in, which is “very unfortunate.”

It further appealed to President Tinubu’s sense of justice and inclusivity to address this imbalance; they recommended their governorship candidate, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for the position, citing his unwavering commitment to the party’s ideals and his suitability to unite the state and party.

The Plateau APC like-minded assured President Tinubu of their unwavering commitment to support his vision and pledged to work tirelessly to ensure the success of his administration.
