The All Progressives Congress on Saturday inaugurated its Youth and Student Council in Abuja.
The council is a support group for students and other young Nigerians interested in politics.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman, House Committee on Army, Abdulrazak Namdas stated that the objective of the council was to galvanise Nigerian students for political participation.
Namdas, who was represented by Mr Husseni Sanda, added that the council was the first of its kind by any political party in recent Nigerian political history.
Also speaking on the occasion, the former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha advised the youths not to lose hope in the Nigerian project.
On his part, the newly inaugurated Director- General of the council, Ezenwa Onyirimba stated that the council planned to bridge the gap between people in leadership and the Nigerian students and youths in general.
