Nationnewslead reports that Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya on Tuesday launched campaign for the council election holding on Saturday in 11 local governments.
A caretaker committee was sworn in for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It is headed by former Chairman, Nitte Amangal.
The swearing-in was done in accordance with a directive from the APC national headquarters in Abuja, which dissolved state executive committee and directed that a caretaker committee be set up to manage the affairs of the party for the next six months.
At the launch of the campaign at Patami Stadium, Gombe, Governor Yahaya, while handing over the party’s flags to the 11 APC candidates, urged them to be true standard-bearers of the party as they campaigned in their local governments.
Yahaya, represented by the Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, enjoined APC supporters to come out en masse and vote for the party on Saturday to guarantee growth and development.
He said since coming into office in 2019, his administration had made efforts towards timely procurement and distribution of fertilisers to farmers, resulting in bumper harvests.
The governor said his administration had made progress in the provision of potable water in Gombe metropolis and its environs, adding that the expansion of the supply of water would continue until a substantial part of the state was free from scarcity of water.
On health, he said his administration has completed the building of primary health care centres across the 114 wards, in addition to the remodelling of the Specialist Hospital and overhaul of general hospitals.
