The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced June 17 as the date for its local government election campaign flag-off, ahead of the July 12 polls.

The campaign launch will take place at the party’s State Secretariat in Ogba and marks the formal presentation of candidates and symbolic handover of party flags.

In a statement issued by APC Publicity Secretary, Mogaji Oluseye Oladejo on Saturday, and made available to journalists, the party emphasised its readiness for the polls and commitment to a people-driven campaign.

“The flag-off ceremony will be witnessed by party chieftains, elected and appointed officials of the party across the three tiers of government,” the statement said.

According to Oladejo, the campaign has been decentralized across Lagos East, Central, and West Senatorial Districts, with Lagos West further subdivided due to its vast size.

Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) have also been established in all local governments to spearhead grassroots mobilization.

The party will use the campaign to spotlight achievements of the outgoing councils, social intervention programs, and plans for sustained development under APC’s progressive agenda.

“The campaign will end a day before the elections in accordance with the extant laws,” the party added, while urging citizens to actively participate in the democratic process. “We wish to seize this opportunity to urge all voters to endeavor to perform their civic responsibility on the day of the elections to further grow our nascent democracy.”

The APC had concluded its primaries with the emergence of Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship, and Councillorship candidates across all 20 LGAs, 37 LCDAs, and 377 wards in the state.
