In a swift reaction to the decision of the Niger State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (AAPC) Working Committee confirming Idris B. Nana as the Chairman of the Party in Suleja Local Government Area against Gambo Ibrahim, who led the party for more than two years after the Local Government (LG) Party Congress in October 2021, the Party LG Stakeholders Forum has rejected the decision of the state’s chapter of the party’s Working Committee.
While the APC LG Stakeholders Forum in Suleja LGA, citing reference to the letter by the State Chapter’s Working Committee promising to communicate the stakeholders on their resolution, expressed regret that this did not happen and instead of confirming Idris B. Nana as the substantive APC Chairman of Suleja LGA against their resolution of dropping the two principal figures in contention.
The Stakeholders forum also expressed displeasure with the State Working Committee’s Resolution in its entirety, saying, “It is against the general interest of the majority of APC members and supporters in Suleja Local Government Area of the State
The Suleja APC Stakeholders Forum consequently appealed for the Working Committee’s understanding and cooperation to salvage the situation by revising the matter and considering their earlier resolution of dropping the two principal actors in contention and adopting the option of bringing new persons to spearhead the affairs of the party in the LGA as the panacea for peaceful resolution of the crisis.
Similarly, the stakeholders in their letter declared that any action contrary to their resolution would confirm to them that the party has a negative motive behind their action towards the good people of Suleja and their desire for the party in the LGA to remain in crisis forever.
The stakeholders also reminded the state’s chapter of the APC Working Committee that in a democracy, issues of consent are paramount and that they can only lead a person with his consent, highlighting that failure to recognise their right to self-determination will force them to resist and assure them that the consequences will not augur well for the party.
In a related development, the Sacked APC Chairman for Suleja Local Government Area of the State, Malam Gambo Ibrahim, in a press statement signed and made available to the newsmen over the weekend in Minna, lambasted the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Bobi, for his perceived unguided utterances against the APC Stakeholders in Suleja Local Government Area of the State.
”I was very surprised by the unguided utterances of Alhaji Aminu Bobi, the APC State Chairman, against Suleja APC Stakeholders.“
According to him, the state chairman of APC in Niger State, Alhaji Aminu Bobi, did not show leadership by example and maturity in his reply to Suleja APC stakeholders, stressing that “though it was not surprising if he said what he said against our stakeholders because he doesn’t know the worth and value of stakeholders in politics.”
Mallam Gambo Ibrahim stated further that “as a pioneer in the project for the State Governor, Mohamed Umaru Bago for Governor, right from the inception, I would not fold my arms to allow things to go in the wrong direction.”
“I am also surprised at how Alhaji Aminu Bobi emphasised the support for Hon. Yahaya Alhassan Gwagwa, Abdullahi Maje, and Hajiya Lantana, the state woman leader, who during the last general elections all lost at their wards to the opposition party at the last general elections.
He stressed that the State Chairman, Alhaji Bobi, as a leader should learn to address his members with decorum; his utterances must be guided, and he should learn to address the public more politely and democratically.
He thereby stated in the statement that “I want to state here that I will be challenging my illegal removal as the substantive APC chairman of the Suleja local government council by the State Working Committee in a court of law.”
