– APC Alerts Presidency

…Says, ‘There’s No Infraction That Fubara Was Accused Of That Adeleke Is Not Guilty Of’

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lent its voice to the furore created by the recent suspension of the Rivers State Governor Similaye Fubara and the House of Assembly structure over the inability of the two important constitutional pillars of government to maintain peace in the oil-rich state.

It is not an overstatement that the Rivers State has been in the negative news for the past eighteen months which has become a stigma for the entire nation in the face of the international community and potential investors who might be thinking that the political crisis which engulfed the oil-rich state has been affecting the entire nation under the principle of what affects the part cannot spare the whole.

Of significant importance to us about the those who have either been speaking against or in favour of the state of emergency government in Rivers State is those who have been asking for the head of the National Secretary of our party, Senator Ajibola Basiru, whose opinion was that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not hesitate to extend the same emergency rule to Osun State should Governor Ademola Adeleke persists in his visibly unconstitutional manner of government in the state.

We want to state unequivocally that those who have been criticizing the distinguished Senator Ajibola over his political view and wish for Osun State under the administration of Governor Adeleke are either poor students of history or outrightly choose to be clever by half or are being blindfolded by partisan political sentimental prism which prevents them from viewing issues objectively.

Whoever has been following the actions and inactions of Governor Adeleke since the inauguration of his government in November 2022 would not agree less with Senator Ajibola that there is no infraction that the Fubara administration committed in the office that Governor Adeleke is not guilty of in several folds under the guise that he is the executive governor of the state.

How else would be the best way to describe a government that is been run by impulse rather than planning because of the obvious pathological challenges of the Chief Driver of the administration of the state who could be likened to a vehicle snatcher who stole the vehicle key without knowing how to start the engine to talk less of moving same?

Where else is the government being run by proxy as it is currently being witnessed in the state where the siblings of the governor have taken the undue advantage of the challenges of their brother governor to take over the reign of government in the state to the consternation of the right-thinking members of the society?

Since the beginning of the political crisis in Rivers State which was recently abated by the introduction of the emergency rule in the oil-rich state, it was not reported anywhere that Fubara made an unconstitutional attempt to remove the Chief Judge of the state by making use of the satellite and pliable House of Assembly with the resultant effect of closing down of the state-owned courts for several months as it was the case in Osun State under Governor Adeleke.

As politically volatile as Rivers State was under the suspended Governor Fubara, the embattled governor was no where reported to have engaged in the war of attrition against the traditional rulers by removing a sizeable number of them whose offence in the eyes of the Governor Adeleke was that they were enthroned by his predecessor, former Governor Gboyega Oyetola now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

It was not reported any where the suspended Governor Fubara was choosing the court judgment to obey as it is glaringly the case in Osun State where Governor Adeleke flagrantly disobeyed the Court of Appeal judgement of the 10th of February, 2025 which reinstated the APC local government council chairmen and councillors but chose to call the bluff of the Federal Government not to conduct another local government council elections where there were no vacancies.

Has Governor Adeleke forgotten that it was his address at his co-called press conference held in the confine of the Government House, Okefia, Osogbo, Osun State that emboldened the members of his party to launch an onslaught on the reinstated council chairmen and councillors whereby one of the council chairmen, Remi Abass, of Irewole Local Government Council Area of Osun State, Ikire, was killed and some other members of the APC across the state?

It is still fresh in the memory of the discerning members and supporters of our party how Governor Adeleke and his cohorts stepped on the blood of no fewer than 30 of our members and supporters to fraudulently rig the governorship, national assembly and house of assembly elections in the 2022 and 2023 elections and how it is no where on record that Governor Adeleke condemned the killings of Abass or the victims linked to the pungently rigged elections.

Must we praise the embattled Governor Adeleke for depriving 1,500 teachers, thousands of health workers and O’YES cadets employed by his immediate predecessor their sources of livelihood by sacking them since three years running without having an empathy of how it feels for one to lose his job?

Is it a thing of joy for Governor Adeleke to utterly waste billions of naira on the conduct of a charade called election under the controversial chairmanship of the state Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) transferred from the state Ministry of Justice as a Special Adviser on Judicial Matters to generate the results of the elections against the directives of the Federal Government that such an election under whatever name was unnecessary?

Those who are asking for the head of the national Secretary of our party for honestly and holistically stating his opinion for the desirability of a state of emergency in Osun State should avail us of the reason it is not an impeachable offence for a governor to cripple the third tier of government for his selfish and wicked motive as he has converted his Ede county home to the rendezvous of the recalcitrant top ranking council officials in order to frustrate the Court of Appeal judgement that reinstated the APC council chairmen and councillors.

There is currently no insecurity in the state, and the local government workers’ refusal to go about their lawful jobs is routed from the orchestrated illegality from the state government to stultify governance at the local level. There is no reason to refuse to go to work and a sign to the state of emergency declaring authority to infer a total collapse of government in all the local levels in the state.

Students who need identification letters, proposed marriages, job seekers requiring local government identification letters and all other indigenes of the state having one thing or the other to do in the local government councils have been groaning due to the directive of Governor Adeleke to the council staff to stay off from work.

There cannot be said to be a resemblance of a democratic government in Osun State where the governor is pointedly responsible for sponsoring, promoting and financing the members of the state chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) to the discomfiture of socio-political and economic wellbeing of the state.

The list of the infractions of Governor Adeleke against the state is legendary which has become the hallmark of his administration as the state had never had it so bad.

Mogaji KOLA OLABISI, Osun State APC Director of Media and Information.
