The leading opposition party in Oyo state, the All Progressive Congress (APC), has stated that the forthcoming local government election would put an end to the dominance of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state

A chieftain of the party and Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, made this known at the stakeholders meeting at the party state secretariat in Ibadan on Sunday.

Adelabu said the party has been repositioned to compete favourably with the PDP and win more seats in the forthcoming elections.

He added that the era of total dominance of the ruling party in the LG election is over in the state.

The Minister disclosed that the party would not boycott the election if the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) fails to make use of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BIVAS); rather, it would perfect its strategy for ensuring that more local government seats are won.

According to him, “We have taken advantage of the Easter holiday to meet the party executive council members and the party leaders across the state. And our candidates for the chairmanship and councilorship positions for the coming local government elections in the state.

“The party is back, and we have all it takes to win any election in the state.

“We are appealing to all other members who are still out to come back to the fold for the party because when we are together, we are stronger as a party, and I’m so happy with the turnout today (Sunday) and the comments from the leaders of the party, from the Exco members, and from the candidates for the local government chairmanship and councilorship.

“They are in good spirits and poised to win any election in the state. I’m confident that there is no other party in the state except the All Progressives Congress.

“Also, we have accepted to go for the election. We will not abandon, and we will not boycott the election. BVAS or no BVAS, APC will win Local Government elections in the state.

“This is the days of social media, nobody can do hanky panky, it must be a transparent and credible election and people are out there waiting for APC to come out and we shall win, Inshal Allah.
