No fewer than 5,000 youths on Wednesday staged a rally in Akure, the Ondo State capital, to declare their support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s governorship ambition.

The youths marched across the state capital, armed with placards bearing various inscriptions indicating their love and support for Aiyedatiwa.

Under the auspices of the APC Youth Leaders Network, in collaboration with the Ondo State Young Stakeholders Forum, the youths stated that the rally was a way to express their confidence in Aiyedatiwa’s leadership qualities ahead of the governorship election in the state.

The rally, attended by hundreds of youths, women, and community leaders, demonstrated solidarity with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration, highlighting his policies and initiatives aimed at empowering the people of Ondo State.

Speaking at the rally, one of the youth leaders, Kolade Olarenwaju, said, “We are marching today on our roads to show our solidarity and love for Aiyedatiwa. We have over 10,000 youths, comprising both males and females, across the state.

“We are appealing to the people of the state to vote for Aiyedatiwa in order to continue enjoying the dividends of democracy. He has demonstrated strong leadership qualities, and we vouch for him that he will further transform the state.”

Addressing the youth, Aiyedatiwa called for economic self-reliance, urging the people to take control of their futures.

“You must all take the initiative to build something of your own—something you can be proud of. Establish your own business or venture that runs independently of external forces,” Aiyedatiwa emphasized.

The Governor acknowledged the crucial role of educators in molding future generations and called on everyone, particularly women and youth, to rise to the occasion. He said, “This is not just about me as your Governor, but about the collective support we can offer one another.

“Our young women, our ladies, and indeed all of you here in your hundreds and thousands, I am thrilled to hear your voices ringing so loudly and clearly. This is your moment—seize it!”

Aiyedatiwa also lauded the resilience and talent of Ondo’s citizens, noting the importance of innovation and leadership from all sectors of society, especially women.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating an environment that fosters economic growth, entrepreneurship, and opportunities for all.

“Our women, especially, have a critical role to play in shaping the future of our state and our nation.

“I have seen your capacity for leadership, your entrepreneurial spirit, and your commitment to the betterment of your families and communities,” he added.

Aiyedatiwa encouraged the people to channel their energy into ensuring a prosperous future for Ondo by participating in the electoral process. He said, “Let us not wait for others to chart our course.

“The future is now, and it belongs to those who are ready to rise and claim it. Be bold, be confident, and take action. Let’s channel this energy toward our forthcoming election on November 16, 2024, and vote.

“Together, we will build an economy that works for everyone—a state where prosperity is shared by all, and no one is left behind.”

However, he called on the Ondo electorate, urging the youth to focus on sustainable growth, innovation, and youth involvement, which remains at the forefront of his campaign.
